'Supernatural' season 12 news, spoilers: Premiere date, title revealed; new big bad on the show?

The finale for "Supernatural" season 11 ended with the scene where Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) came upon his brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) being shot in the woods by a strange woman, Lady Toni Bevell (Elizabeth Blackmore). There they also discovered Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith), their mother, apparently back from the dead. This does not bode well for the two brothers.

Padalecki confirmed Sam's shooting, saying, "She shot him, I don't know where, but I know she shot him."

This did not seem to bother the actor much as apparently such things happen a lot on the show. Also, during the season 11 finale, Amara (Emily Swallow) expressed her gratitude to Dean by giving him back his mother. Mary had died while he was still a child, killed by the Yellow Demon.

Padalecki shared, "I'm anxious to see how that [surprise return] pans out, [My reaction] was kind of like, 'What's going to happen now? How is this going to work out?'"

The actor seemed very excited about the turn of events, and especially with Mary's return. "Supernatural" season 12 is expected to be a reunion of sorts for the Winchesters. According to Padalecki, it would be Dean who would be much more affected by their mother's reappearance in their lives. He explained that this was because Sam had been too young when their mother died, but all the same, Sam wanted "some answers," knowing too little about their mother. Padalecki said that Sam was a curious person and a thinker who wanted to have "closure" with regard to his parents.

With Bevell showing her face once more, fans are speculating that "Supernatural" season 12 will have a new villain, or perhaps, villains. Bevell is a member of the British Men of Letters, an elite group of knowledge hunters and "chroniclers" who hold the secrets of supernatural mysteries which are not known to men.

"Supernatural" season 12 will premiere on Oct. 13 on The CW with the episode "Keep Calm and Carry On."
