Surface Pro 3 Trade-In Deals at Best Buy: Offers Emerge as Microsoft Looks to Raise Tablet Sales

The Surface Pro 3 | MICROSOFT

Microsoft has made no secret of the fact that it wants its tablet/laptop hybrid, the Surface Pro 3, to become popular as tablet sales dim throughout the world.

To do this, the company has been offering a series of deals to customers who are in the market for a laptop or a tablet. The latest deal that allows consumers to get a reasonably priced Surface Pro 3 is through Best Buy, which is offering a trade-in deal for those who have old tablets.

The deal applies to those who have working tablets. According to the terms and conditions of the deal, the device should be able to power up. In addition, it should not have suffered any water damage or have a cracked screen. If these terms and conditions are satisfied, Best Buy will provide at minimum a $150 coupon which can be used when buying a new Surface Pro 3 plus a $50 gift card. If the prospective buyer is trading-in an iPad Air 2, he or she could get an even bigger price coupon.

CNET reports that the offer is ongoing at the Best Buy website. People can check the value of their tablet online and then take their device to a Best Buy store to trade it in purchasing a Surface Pro 3. However, the deal is not available in all store locations, and people have to first check online the stores offering the deal before going to the store with their old tablet.

Microsoft has launched two deals since it launched the Surface Pro 3 last year. The Surface Pro 3 is costlier than its Surface 3 sibling which was launched by Microsoft this year. Also the tablet/laptop hybrid does not have a keyboard. A Type Cover has to be purchased separately.

The starting model of the Surface Pro 3 with an Intel Core i3 processor and 64GB memory is priced at $799. The costliest model with an Intel Core i7 processor and 512GB onboard memory is priced at $1,949.
