Surface Studio, Surface Book latest update: Siemens NX certification granted for the benefit of artists, engineers
Engineers will benefit significantly with the Surface Studio and Surface Book, which are equipped with Performance Base due to its Siemens NX certification. Microsoft has just announced this latest development, allowing engineers to run a better product design software.
Microsoft and Siemens have partnered to make sure that the Siemens NX will be compatible with both Surface Studio and Surface Book. Siemens announced that the certification is only awarded to devices that have passed their series of tests, weighing the devices' capability to perform excellent end-user experience.
"Our customers, including numerous major airplane and auto manufacturers, require and depend on this certification to tell them what devices will offer their team the best user experience. To do so, our team tests device capabilities like processor performance, graphics systems and more," the company said.
According to Joe Bohman, the vice president of Product Engineering Software for Siemens' product lifecycle management (PLM) software business, Surface Book has the performance and flexibility that allow users to work from their office to the manufacturing workplace without missing anything.
Surface Studio, on the other hand, is excellent for designers that are still used to navigating on multiple devices for a specific job. The device is ideal for users who are searching for mixed activities such as complex modeling using the Siemens NX software.
In general, Siemens acknowledges Surface Studio and Surface Book as an ideal product since engineers can use the devices conveniently by combining different inputs. The new Surface Dial accessory, for example, allows new methods to connect with Siemens NX especially in rotating, panning, basic zooming, and all other related tasks.
"Going a step further, we also looked at how Surface Dial can support dynamic geometry manipulation, such as changing sizes and adjusting attributes. These functions can all be performed more smoothly and reliably with Surface Dial versus traditional mouse dragging or even touch, allowing for much finer control over changes," the company explained.
