'System Shock' remake release date delayed, news details: release pushed back to second quarter of 2018

The 1994 action role-playing game, "System Shock," is joining the remake bandwagon and was initially expected to be out by Dec. 2017. However, recent reports confirm that the game is pushed back for a 2018 release date instead.

Game publisher Nightdive explained to Kickstarter supporters that the "goal is to launch on PC/Mac/Linux/Xbox One/PlayStation 4 (PS4) by Q2 of 2018. Not sure if it will be a simultaneous launch, but we'll do our best."

This possibly hints that some platforms might get the remastered version earlier. In addition, the developers are still working on a vertical slice of the game that will help them determine the feel of the gameplay.

"Basically, [it] lets us prove out our pipelines and narrow down how the game should and shouldn't play," it said. "By the end of [it], we'll have a better understanding of what we can achieve with the time/budget we have, and have a more accurate plan moving forward to create a quality game," the game creator explained.
