T-Mobile has become the first carrier in the U.S. to offer a free one-year Netflix streaming service to customers who purchase either the Samsung Galaxy S6 or the Galaxy S6 Edge from its stores.

T-Mobile made the announcement on its website, pointing out that the S6 Edge with its Quad HD display is best suited for the streaming service.

Customers who buy any one of the two Samsung flagship smartphones will be able to access for free the Netflix stream subscription plan, which is otherwise priced at $8.99 per month or over $100 a year.

T-Mobile also offered a solution to the problem of customers in contract with another carrier but who want to purchase the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge from T-Mobile. The company said if a customer of another carrier switches to T-Mobile and trade his or her current phone to the Galaxy S6 as soon as it's available, the company will pay for the customer's phone bills.

The offer also encouraged people to register in the T-Mobile website if they are interested in getting the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Forbes noted that in the fine print on the T-Mobile offer, the company indicated that this is a limited time offer and only those people who register between March 27 and April 9 will be eligible to receive the redemption codes that can be used to get a year's worth of free Netflix.

The Galaxy S6 and its Edge variant are due to be launched globally on April 10.

Verizon is the only U.S. carrier so far that has revealed its pre-order date for the devices and it is on April 1.

T-Mobile and other carriers including AT&T and Sprint have not indicated their pre-order start dates. However, with T-Mobile beating other carriers with its free Netflix offering, many customers may decide to subscribe to T-Mobile.
