'The 100' season 4 extended trailer, release date: massive destruction up ahead
Despite the upbeat background, the new trailer for "The 100" season 4 teased that life on Earth is in danger of extinction.
Dead bodies seemed to pile up rapidly after Clarke (Eliza Taylor) decided to destroy A.L.I.E. (Erica Cerra) despite her threats of massive nuclear destruction. But it seems like Clarke's decision to stop A.L.I.E.'s plans to manipulate everyone's mind to think that they will no longer suffer with the help of the City of Light will earn ire from both the Skaikru and the Grounders. She will be blamed by everyone around her, especially after Echo (Tasya Teles) blamed her for the people's downfall.
Echo obviously has plans against Clarke. Based on the trailer, Echo will urge Roan (Zach McGowan) to kill Wanheda/Clarke so he can get her rumored powers.
Clarke seems determined to look for a way to save the world from its imminent destruction together with Bellamy (Bob Morley) and the other members of Skaikru. She is also prepared to face the impending battle with the members of the Ice Nation.
Aside from Roan and Echo, Clarke will also face the wrath of other Grounders like Ilian (new cast member Chai Romruen). He is one of the people who will blame the Skaikru for all the misfortunes coming their way.
"He was forced to do some horrible things while being driven by A.L.I.E.," showrunner Jason Rothenberg said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "He's dedicated to making sure that never happens again."
The new season will also center on the characters' quest for survival. This time, they will look past their tribal identities and prioritize those who are closest to them. "It's human nature to save our families, our friends first," Rothenberg also stated. "Can you take a little bit less for yourself in order to let somebody else have something?"
The CW will release the premiere episode of "The 100" season 4 on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
