'The Affair' season 3 spoilers: Alison and Noah reunites

Noah (Dominic West) and Alison (Ruth Wilson) will be reunited in the fifth episode of "The Affair" season 3.

At the end of episode 4, Alison noticed a familiar red car following her as she bikes around Montauk. When she approached the car's driver, she saw her estranged husband Noah walking toward her.

In the upcoming episode, the former couple will be spending a day together on Block Island, but it may not be for a romantic reason.

According to the synopsis that was released by Showtime, "Alison is motivated to spend a memorable day with Noah on Block Island for an unusual reason. Noah is left wistful by their profound connection, until the problems from which he was escaping return with a shocking force."

The episode will also feature the repercussion of Alison's brief intimate encounter with her other ex-husband Cole (Joshua Jackson) after the birthday party of their daughter Joanie.

In a sneak peek that was provided by the network, Cole was seen visiting Alison in her home to remind her that he is already married to Luisa (Catalina Sandino Moreno), which is why they can never sleep together again. According to Cole, he does not want his new wife to feel the pain that he felt when Alison cheated on him with Noah in the past.

Alison felt a little offended with Cole's statements, saying that he thinks that she is crazy. But Cole reminded her in the sneak peek that he knows how she worked hard to pull herself back together after all the events that happened to her life in the past, including the murder trial for Scotty's (Colin Donnell) murder and the falling off between her and Noah. He also told her that he thinks Alison is now capable of being granted joint custody of their daughter.

Showtime will release the next episode of "The Affair" season 3 on Sunday, Dec. 18.
