CBS' "The Big Bang Theory" is currently one of the biggest comedies in television and it has been swimming well with a solid ten seasons. Reports say that a spin-off series is currently in the works, and it will be focusing on a younger Sheldon Cooper growing up in Texas.

According to Variety, the project is now nearing a script deal, and Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon in the show, is attached to be the executive producer of the project. Parsons will be joined by co-creator Chuck Lorre and current "Big Bang" showrunner Steve Molaro. Bill Prady, who helped create the series, is also possibly attached to the project.

In the show, Sheldon was already attending college when he was 13, and his childhood is usually poked fun at because he was an atheistic scientist growing up in a very religious home. The spin-off would likely have Laurie Metcalf starring as Sheldon's mother, Mary. Interestingly enough, she has been nominated for an Emmy for her recurring role in the show.

The original show has also touched on Sheldon's relationship with his parents and a big part of Sheldon's personality is his exposure to his parents' arguments. Sheldon has just recently revealed to Amy (Mayim Bialik) that he was afraid of living together because it might lead to them fighting like Sheldon's parents did.

So far, CBS has declined to comment on the status of the spin-off show, but The Hollywood Reporter says that the network has already picked it up and is starting development. Insiders reportedly describe the project to be like "'Malcolm in the Middle' but with a young and potentially teenage version of Sheldon." More details should be released about the spin-off soon.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 10 is currently ongoing and it shows every Thursday at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
