'The Blacklist' season 4 episode 9 spoilers: Task force's loyalty to be tested; Mozhan Marno speaks on Samar and Aram's chemistry
The task force's loyalty is put to the test on the upcoming episode of NBC's mystery drama "The Blacklist" season 4.
Titled "Lipet's Seafood Company," tonight's midseason premiere will see an investigation that brings out a different side of the task force. According to the official synopsis, the task force investigates on an international terrorist operating on American soil. As the probe progresses, the team's allegiances are tested. Red (James Spader) cashes in on a favor, while Aram (Amir Arison) deals with the repercussions of his girlfriend hacking into the FBI computer system.
The first half of season 4 left off with Red whispering something to Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen). Although what he said was never revealed, it was enough to stop Kirk from ending his life. New promo stills from the upcoming episode suggest that there will be an action-packed scene featuring Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) and the rest of the team. Also, the show's would-be couple, Samar (Mozhan Marno) and Aram (Amir Arison), appear to share yet another romantic moment together.
Dubbed by fans as "Samararam," the awkward couple easily became a fan-favorite because of their on-screen chemistry. Marno spoke with Yahoo TV recently, and she mentioned that she's still surprised to see the duo getting more attention from viewers.
"I think [the writers] started to write to that a little bit," Marno said, adding:"I don't know that they hired me and wrote my character thinking that anything was going to happen with [Aram]. I think that may have developed naturally. I think people like an odd couple, too: she's the tough one; he's the dorky one. Together, it is so sweet, right?"
The actress added that Samar and Aram's partnership probably clicked because they're different from traditional TV couples. This sets them apart from others and makes them more interesting to watch. "I just think there's something about that. Also, just that the gender roles are a little swapped," Marno continued. "He's the emotional one, and she's the stoic one. It's an unusual coupling that I think is fun to root for," she went on to say.
The fourth season of "The Blacklist" returns on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
