After a successful run on the big screen, Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables" could be moving to the small screen soon.

Fox is reportedly in its early stages of developing an event series revolving around Stallone's three film action franchise.

Described as a fun action drama, the series is said to already have a script which will focus on a team of highly-skilled heroes trying to thwart a terrorist.

The New York Post first reported that Stallone, the writer and one of the lead stars in the hit franchise, is poised to be the show's executive producer alongside film producer Avi Lerner.

The series will have NCIS veteran Shane Brennan as its showrunner. The writing duo Greg Coolige and Kirk Ward will also be executive producing and writing, respectively, "The Expendables" adaptation on TV.

Kevin King, who is coming from Stallone's production company Rogue Marble, and Grant Anderson of Shane Brennan Productions will also be coming onboard as the show's executive producers for Fox.

Lionsgate TV, whose features counterpart distributed the theatrical films, is developing the adaptation with CBS TV Studios, which has an overall deal with Brennan.

Like the hit movies, "The Expendables" series will unite iconic TV action stars, but there is no cast attached or approached yet.

Unconfirmed reports have listedf beloved TV action stars to choose from including Chuck Norris of "Walker Texas Ranger," Kiefer Sutherland of "24," Tom Selleck of "Magnum P.I.," Lucy Lawless of "Xena: Warrior Princess," Scott Bakula of "Quantum Leap," Jennifer Garner of "Alias," Mr. T of "A-Team," and Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester of "Strike Back."

Deadline, however, nominated Charlie Hunnam from "Sons of Anarchy," Richard Dean Anderson from "MacGyver," Kevin Sorbo from "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys," and David Boreanaz from "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer."

The three-movie franchise has grossed $786 million at the worldwide box office from 2010-14. Its cast has included Stallone, Norris, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Terry Crews.
