There's a lot to look forward to in the third season of "The Flash."

In the season 2 finale, hardcore "The Flash" fans were delighted to find the series setting up the Flashpoint story arc from the DC Comics. Similar to the events in the comic books, the finale of "The Flash" season 2 found Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) going back in time to save his mother. While the super speedster only had good intentions, going back in time altered the universe as everyone else knew it.

The whole Flashpoint storyline opens up the series to a whole line-up of characters, both new ones (including Julian Dorn, to be played by "Harry Potter" alum Tom Felton) and old. Even characters that have already died could re-appear in the Flashpoint arc.

In a recent interview with TV Line, "The Flash" co-showrunner Todd Helbing teased the returning characters, saying, "There are different characters that you will see, some [that have] passed." He also revealed that there will be "a lot of Easter egg stuff that's a lot of fun."

Meanwhile, Felton recently opened up about his character in "The Flash," telling SciFiNow that his Julian Dorn will be another CSI and a colleague of Barry's in the Flashpoint timeline.

According to the actor, Dorn, a forensic expert, will be "tread[ing] on the toes" of Barry's work. This will lead to the two having a "slightly abrasive" relationship at the beginning of the season.

"I say abrasive, but I mean that — clearly because of the events of the season — none of the relationships that Barry has had with other cast members is the same," he explained.

Felton also revealed that because of the altered universe, Barry would not initially remember that the two aren't exactly friends.

"He's not familiar with me, but I'm familiar with him, so it's an odd dynamic," Felton said. "It seems like a love/hate thing at first," the actor added.

"The Flash" season 3 is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
