'The Flash' season 3 release date, cast & spoilers news: Superhero series casts Mirror Master, Caitlin Snow's mom; Barry to forget his powers
"The Flash" season 3 will feature a couple of new faces.
According to Comic Book Resources, the superhero series has tapped "Friday Night Lights" alum Grey Damon to play the role of Mirror Master, one of the Flash's (Grant Gustin) Rogues.
While there have been two Mirror Masters in the DC Comics, Damon will play Sam Scudder, the original version of the character. Created by Carmine Infantino and John Broome, Sam was first introduced in the comic books in 1959. Warner Bros. Television describes Sam Scudder/Mirror Master as "a smooth criminal with a huge ego."
After discovering that he can travel through reflective surfaces, the Mirror Master sets off to prove that he is the greatest thief in Central City.
Damon's Mirror Master will reportedly appear in episode 4 of the upcoming "The Flash" season 3. The episode is expected to air in late October or early November.
Damon joins fellow "The Flash" newbie Susan Walters in the show's third season. Walters, a "Vampire Diaries" alum, is boarding "The Flash" in the role of Dr. Carla Tannhauser, Caitlin Snow's (Danielle Panabaker) mother.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Carla is a renowned biomedical engineer and the CEO of a large research company. She and Caitlin have a complicated relationship, with Carla thinking of Caitlin as a rebel and Caitlin regarding her mother as cold and unaffectionate.
Meanwhile, "The Flash" star Grant Gustin recently revealed that Barry Allen/The Flash will find himself forgetting his powers in season 3.
In an interview with DC All Access, the actor said: "Barry's the only one who knows that the timeline is different. And his memories are gradually being replaced by memories of graduating high school and college, his moments with his family, and when he realizes that those memories are replacing other memories, that's when he starts to realize how selfish of a decision this was."
But the speedster will be losing more than just his memories.
"It means he's forgetting his powers, too," he added. "He's having a full 'Back to the Future' moment, his hand disappearing in front of him."
"The Flash" season 3 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
