'The Flash' season 3 spoilers: Can Barry still save Iris from Savitar?
The fate of Iris West (Candice Patton) looks dim in the upcoming episodes of "The Flash" season 3.
It was revealed toward the end of the fall finale of "The Flash" season 3 that Savitar could turn into a version of the Flash in the future. Yet he opted to come back to the present time to face the current Flash Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and force him to give him back something that belongs from him.
The episode also showed that Savitar spoke through his acolyte Julian Albert (Tom Felton), who revealed a spine-tingling prophecy involving Iris and Barry.
According to the prophecy, Savitar will stab Iris right in front of Barry. Before he could do anything about it, Barry was brought back to the present by Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp) where he was reminded that the events of the future can still be altered before it can have the chance to unfold.
But while Barry could not shake off the image of the dying Iris on his head, the Scarlet Speedster opted to take Jay's advice to live in the moment. Before the end of the episode, he decided to buy an apartment where he and Iris can move in together. Could Barry manage to do whatever it takes in the present to secure Iris' life?
Meanwhile, Shipp told Collider in an interview that he felt a lot of difference in the relationship of Jay and Barry compared to the connection between his other character Henry Allen, who was killed by Hunter Zolomon (Teddy Sears).
According to the actor, he and Gustin realized that the father-and-son vibe of Henry and Barry's relationship is no longer present whenever they rehearse the lines between Barry and Jay.
"We had gotten used to the father-son, very warm, very loving, very nurturing relationship that Henry had with Barry," the actor stated. "Jay doesn't have all of that. With Jay, it's big boy rules. The temperature and the template is completely different. What that gives Grant and I is that we get to learn each other all over again, creatively, from an entirely different perspective."
"The Flash" season 3 will return to The CW in early 2017.
