'The Flash' season 3 air date, spoilers news 2016: Power corrupts Barry? Tom Felton dishes on Julian Dorn's relationship with Barry
"The Flash" season 3 doesn't premiere until Oct. 4, but a recently released storyboard for the upcoming installment hint that great things are about to happen in the show's third run.
The storyboard teased The Flash (Grant Gustin) and Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) teaming up, making fans eager to see how the two speedsters will unite to take down the bad guys. Moreover, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said that while the Flashpoint storyline in the comics caused Barry to lose his powers, the same will not be true in the TV series.
Apparently, Barry gets to keep his powers in the series' Flashpoint arc. Nevertheless, Kreisberg made a foreboding pronouncement that seemed to hint Barry will turn into a villain in "The Flash" season 3.
"One of the themes is what does it mean to have power, what you do with that power, and is power ultimately corrupting?" Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly.
As the show's lead character, it's doubtful that Barry will become a full-fledged super villain. Nevertheless, he did create an entirely new reality when he went back in time to save his mother without regard for the repercussions of his actions. That in itself was a selfish act on Barry's part, and perhaps, power will corrupt Barry in a way that he becomes reckless in how he uses his power.
Melty notes that if it happens and Barry steps over the line, he will pretty much be like Reverse-Flash. It will be a treat to fans to see how power-corrupted Barry and the Reverse-Flash/Eobard Thawne will square off should Thawne appear outside Flashpoint.
Meanwhile, Tom Felton, who will play the role of forensic expert Julian Dorn in "The Flash" season 3, teased that his character and Barry will start off in the wrong foot when they meet each other at the Central City Police Department.
Apparently, both Julian and Barry will share the same passion for their job, which is why they will "slightly have an abrasive relationship" before they eventually get to know each other better.
Felton likewise teased that because Barry changed his past, all the relationships he forged in season 1 will change, too. The actor said although Julian is a newcomer, he and Barry already know each other well and may even be friends. However, Barry will be unaware of this given that he's new to the alternate timeline.
"He's not familiar with me, but I'm familiar with him, so it's an odd dynamic. It seems like a love/hate thing at first," Felton told SciFiNow.
"The Flash" season 3 returns to The CW on Oct. 4.
