'The Huntsman' Release Date, Plot News: More Dwarves Joining Prequel of 'Snow White and the Huntsman'
"The Huntsman" is finding more and more dwarves to join him in the prequel of "Snow White and the Huntsman."
Rob Brydon, Sheridan Smith and Alexandra Roach have confirmed that they will be joining forces to play three of the seven dwarves along with returning cast member Nick Frost.
Brydon made the announcement on his official Twitter account, adding that fellow Welsh actress Alexandra Roach will join him as part of the movie to be released on April 22 next year.
"Very pleased to confirm that I shall be playing a dwarf in 'The Huntsman' movie. First time I've been strictly speaking too tall for a role," Brydon said, according to Slashfilm. "My fellow dwarfs being Nick Frost, Sheridan Smith and Alexandra Roach," he added.
Roach was also featured in "Anna Karenina" and "Utopia."
Smith also turned to Twitter to announce her part in the upcoming movie, which stars Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron, who will both reprise their roles as Eric and Ravenna, respectively.
An article from The Hollywood Reporter revealed other new additions to the cast: Jessica Chastain and Emily Blunt. The inclusion of the two actresses in the line-up of seven dwarves, who are usually played by male actors, aroused curiosity from observers, who said the casting was a rarity in pop culture.
Questioned surfaced on how many, and which, dwarves from "Snow White and the Huntsman" might return for the prequel.
The gang of seven was played in the original by Frost, Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Johnny Harris, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Ray Winstone, and Brian Gleeson, according to IGN.
Frost is the only one from the group who is currently set to return. But the latest report from The Hollywood Reporter suggested that he'll be surrounded by plenty of new friends.
"The Huntsman" picks up the story of Eric and Ravenna long before they met Snow White as Eric embarked on a quest to find the magic mirror. This reawakens an enduring grudge between him and the Snow Queen, who will reportedly be played by Blunt.
Chastain's role has not yet been revealed.
The Huntsman movie is inspired by the Grimm fairytales and will reunite Smith and Brydon, who previously acted alongside each other in the hit BBC series "Gavin and Stacey."
