'The Inhumans' release date, news: IMAX and TV premiere dates confirmed
It has been a couple of weeks since Marvel announced that it is partnering with ABC and IMAX to bring Black Bolt and the Inhuman royal family to the small screen. Not much has been revealed about "The Inhumans" since then, but more details are starting to trickle in.
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that IMAX Entertainment CEO Greg Foster has revealed that the first two episodes of the series would premiere on or around Sept. 1 in IMAX theaters around the world.
The two episodes, which reportedly span approximately 80 minutes, will have a two-week theatrical run before they premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 26, on ABC. All episodes are expected to air on consecutive Tuesdays, except when there are unforeseen interruptions, of course.
"Hopefully this will spawn more seasons of the show, and opportunistically, we're looking at other opportunities and programs that we can become part of," Foster said during the Credit Suisse Technology, Media & Telecom Conference.
While he hopes that there would be more seasons of "The Inhumans," he also admits that the show would only be successful if viewers warm up to it. "We are at the mercy ... of the marketing of the series and the playability of the series," he stated.
Interestingly, ABC's other Marvel show, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," also airs on Tuesdays, but Comic Book Movie does not think that "The Inhumans" will take over "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s" time slot (10 p.m. – 11 p.m. EDT) since Marvel wants it to be as successful as possible. The publication thinks the two shows may air on the same day.
MovieWeb's Brian Gallagher believes that is possible, but he also notes that there's a possibility that "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." may be pushed back to midseason while "The Inhumans" takes over the show's slot. However, he seems to have forgotten that "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" has shifted to the 10 p.m. timeslot starting this season.
The series' official timeslot has not been confirmed yet, so readers are advised to take this information with a grain of salt.
