'The Last of Us 2' release date news: Sequel might be revealed at E3 2017
The sequel to 2013's action-adventure survival horror video game, "The Last of Us," may finally be unveiled next year. "The Last of Us 2" has been a favorite subject of numerous rumors and speculations all over the internet for quite some time now. Although game developer Naughty Dog has yet to provide significant details about the development and release of the sequel, there are several strong speculations being made by fans and critics.
According to a report by Game N Guide, the upcoming game will most likely be revealed during the 2017 Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3. Previous reports suggested that the game will be released in 2018 and an earlier reveal date only makes sense since the game developer would want to launch the new title during a big event like E3.
Many fans were disappointed when Naughty Dog decided to skip the highly anticipated sequel at this year's E3. Prior to the event, strong speculations have emerged suggesting that "The Last of Us 2" will be revealed during that time; however, the company had different plans.
Despite the recent disappointment, fans are still hoping for the best as they expect the game developer to make an official announcement anytime soon.
Meanwhile, according to an earlier report by HNGN, the game developer is said to have posted a job listing to hire people for an upcoming big project. There are rumors that Naughty Dog might start the production of the new game this year; however, it has yet to be confirmed.
Movie News Guide reported that the "The Last of Us 2" might still be exclusive for PlayStation console just like the original game. The publication also said that a VR version of the game might also be developed by Naughty Dog since Sony already has the PlayStation VR system.
