'The LEGO Batman Movie' release date, cast news, plot updates: Film to premiere in February
LEGO Batman, voiced by Will Arnett, will be soliciting the help of his friends in order to save Gotham City. Meanwhile, the trailer reveals how Batman steps out of his cave to form new relationships.
Directed by Chris McKay, "The LEGO Batman Movie" is set to premiere this coming February featuring a changed LEGO Batman.
According to the film's story from the official website, big changes will be happening in Gotham City. In order for LEGO Batman to save the city from The Joker's evil reign, he will have to change his lone wolf ways and build alliances with other key characters.
Characters joining LEGO Batman in his solo film are his butler Alfred (Ralph Fiennes), his adopted orphan Dick Grayson (Michael Cera), his mortal enemy The Joker (Zach Galifianakis), and his soon-to-be ally Barbara Gordon or Batgirl, voiced by "Daredevil" star Rosario Dawson.
The official trailer for "The LEGO Batman Movie" revealed how the caped crusader will step out of his comfort zone, and it starts with Alfred giving him big realizations about his deepest fears.
It turns out LEGO Batman was emotionally scarred when he lost his parents, which is why he always kept to himself. But LEGO Batman will be making the first step in building relationships with his adopted child, Dick.
Batman will be turning Dick into his sidekick, who is more famously known as Robin.
Later on, LEGO Batman discovers that Barbara Gordon and the police are teaming up with him in crime-fighting. LEGO Batman is repulsed by the announcement, but things may turn around for him sooner than later.
Aside from LEGO Batman, it appears that The Joker also has a soft spot. Upon learning that LEGO Batman fights with many villains and not just him alone, he appears heartbroken.
"The LEGO Batman Movie" premieres on Feb. 10.
