Although The Mentalist was renewed for its seventh season, no official announcement has been made regarding its release date yet. The show premiere, however, has been slated for 2015.

Season 6 ended on May 18, 2014, and going forward, according to TV Guide, the show will no longer be aired in its usual Sunday timeslot.

In a Tweet earlier in September, Tim Kang confirmed that Season 7 is going to be the last and final one for The Mentalist. Kang plays the role of Kimball Cho, a special agent. His Tweet read, "This is our 7th and final season. Looking at the scripts now, it's so fun and such a great season!"

Meanwhile, Emily Swallow has announced that she will no longer appear on any of Season 7's episodes. She plays the role of FBI agent Kim Fischer.

According to a report from TV Line, someone will be replacing Swallow—an FBI rookie named Michelle Vega, who will be playing a significant role. This character may create a love triangle with Teresa Lisbon and Patrick Jane.

Show runner Bruno Heller has hinted about the relationship between Lisbon and James reaching a conclusion. "After (serial killer) Red John goes, for both Lisbon and Jane, there is a palpable sense of 'What now? Do I really want to continue doing the same thing?", he said in an interview with Hollywood Reporter.

The titles for the next season include, "The Graybar Hotel" (Episode 1), "The Orange Blossom Ice Cream" (Episode 2), "Pink Rocks" (Episode 3), "Silver Briefcase" (Episode 4)" and "Little Yellow House" (Episode 6).
