'The Vampire Diaries 'season 8 news: Nina Dobrev to reprise the role of Katherine Pierce? Fourth episode hints at her return
The hope of the fans has not wavered despite the fact that Nina Dobrev may not return to the show at all. "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 presented a lot of twists, but fans expect that in the finale, they would get a glimpse of Dobrev.
Dobrev surprised the fans when she announced her exit from "The Vampire Diaries" series in 2015. Though the series has been keeping up well without her, its rating has somehow got affected. Since then, fans are hopeful that the show will be revived once again when she appears in the finale of the eighth season, though there is little chance that she may do so.
Previous reports claim that the actress may possibly come back, but will not reprise her role as Elena anymore. Instead, Nina Dobrev will continue being Katherine and cause more havoc to Mystic Falls. This was apparently hinted at the fourth episode of "The Vampire Diaries," which is titled "An Eternity of Misery."
During the episode, avid fans saw the soul of Georgie being sucked by a shadow that has similar traits with Katherine Pierce. Those who have followed "The Vampire Diaries" from season 1 until the latest season surely know that Katherine was also sucked by the same shadow in season 5.
This ignited strong hopes that Nina Dobrev will grace the finale of the recent season and may even have a reunion with ex-boyfriend, Ian Somerhalder.
In an interview with Digital Spy, "The Vampire Diaries" creator Julie Plec said that she wants Dobrev to return but there are issues about "logistics."
"She's said she would [come back] and I want her to," she said. "So honestly it becomes a matter of logistics and if we become victim to logistics, then that would be devastating. I'm hoping that's not even going to be an issue."
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 airs every Friday on CBS.
