'The Walking Dead: A New Frontier' release date, news: Launch trailer revealed, shows Clementine and Javier's first meeting

Telltale Games has just released the launch trailer for season 3 of "The Walking Dead" video game series titled "A New Frontier." The new footage provides a sneak peek of the intense and thrilling adventure that the protagonists, Clementine and Javier, will go on in the latest installment of the point-and-click graphic adventure video game.

The two-part premiere episode of the upcoming game is titled "The Ties That Bind" and is set to arrive next week. In the launch trailer, players can see the events that bring the protagonists together. A few familiar faces from "The Walking Dead" universe like Jesus also make an appearance.

In the game, players will be able to play as either Clementine or Javier. Longtime fans will be familiar with Clementine as she has been featured in the past two seasons of the video game series. Meanwhile, those who are new to the franchise will not feel lost due to the introduction of Javier, who is a new character.

In a new blog post, Telltale revealed that at the beginning of "A New Frontier," players will be presented with two options: Start New Story and Continue Your Story. The former is for those who haven't played "The Walking Dead" before or for players who want a fresh start. The latter, on the other hand, allows veteran players to continue the journey they started in season 1 or season 2 of the series.

Furthermore, in the Continue Your Story option, players can opt for the Story Generator where they will be asked questions that will help tailor Clementine. They can also import the save file from "Season 2."

In anticipation for the arrival of the latest season of "The Walking Dead," Telltale is currently hosting a live stream event on Twitch. It goes live at 6 p.m. EST every day up until Dec. 18. Players will be able to enjoy footage from previous seasons of "The Walking Dead" as well as special appearances from Melissa Hutchinson (Clementine) and Gavin Hammond (Javier).

"The Walking Dead: A New Frontier" is slated to arrive as a digital download on Tuesday, Dec. 20. It will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Android and iOS.
