George R.R. Martin has finally offered some long-overdue official update with regard to his writing progress on the much-clamored "The Winds of Winter."

On his latest live journal post, the award-winning author invited everyone to go and see him at the Guadalajara International Book Fair where he will be appearing. Martin will be one of the guests at the conference where he will be "doing interviews, a press conference, a live streaming event, and a signing." Alongside the announcement is a brief throwaway detail that he wrote just before he finished the post, saying, "This is my last scheduled event for 2016. My appearance schedule for 2017 is very limited, and will remain so until WINDS is completed. So if you want to meet me or get a book signed, this will be the last chance for a good few months ..."

Obviously, given that this concerns a very passionate fandom, people who follow Martin were quick to note that "The Winds of Winter" will finally be done in a couple of months hinting a timeline for its release. It can be remembered that for months now, the "Game of Thrones" creator was very cagey in terms of when exactly the sixth book from the epic fantasy series "A Song of Ice and Fire" will come out. And despite the update still being very vague in terms of what "a good few months" means quantitatively, the tidbit is still gobbled by loyalists who are starving for new content from the beloved franchise. More so now, given that HBO's take on the narrative will not be coming back on air until summer of next year.

Coincidentally, the time frame also coincides with rumors that "The Winds of Winter" is being pushed for release before "Game of Thrones" season 7 hits the airwaves. Surely, six months is considered "a good few months," which could only make sense so as to not spoil the book by the events that will go down in the penultimate installment of the Award-winning fantastical drama.

That being said, no one really knows as of yet when "The Winds of Winter" will exactly drop. But if Martin is comfortable enough to throw nuggets of details about the timeline for the book, then it could be an indication that it could already be finally near completion.
