'The Winds of Winter' release date, plot news: fans still waiting for confirmation on release

After months of waiting, fans are still wondering when the next installment of George R.R. Martin's novel series will release.

Titled "The Winds of Winter," the new book of Martin is expected to continue the story of "A Song of Ice and Fire." With that, many have been anticipation the release of the novel in order to find out what is to take place in the dramatic world of Westeros.

The initial release of the novel was supposed to be before the airing of HBO's "Game of Thrones" season 6. However, it was reported that Martin's writing was faced with many delays, which is why the novel has yet to be released.

Now that it has been quite some time since the conclusion of "Game of Thrones" season 6, many fans have become impatient in waiting for "The Winds of Winter."

Reports indicated that the reason for the delay is Martin's busy schedule, leaving him no time to continue the story. Though the author promised to do his best to finish it, there is still no news on when it will be available.

Meanwhile, his former assistant Ty Franck also shed some light on why Martin is taking awhile to finish the novel. It was stated that Martin's writing style makes it hard to finish the book, since he constantly waits for muses in order to bring about the story. With that, the writing style remains slow, delaying the conclusion of the story.

Nevertheless, Martin tried to appease the wait by releasing excerpts of the novel online. With that, fans are able to read some parts of the novel while waiting for its release.

As of the moment, it is uncertain whether Martin will finish the novel before the next season of "Game of Thrones." It was rumored that "The Winds of Winter" may not have an early 2017 release, meaning fans will have to continue waiting.
