'This Is Us' spoilers: Toby's life or death situation to be addressed in midseason premiere
NBC will finally air midseason premiere of "This Is Us" this week, which means that Toby's (Chris Sullivan) will be finally revealed.
In the Winter finale, Kate's (Chrissy Metz) boyfriend suddenly collapsed at Randall's (Sterling K. Brown) house during their Christmas Eve dinner. But Metz revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the fans will not have to wait long to find out what happens next to Toby.
"Well, I think that we've made them wait long enough that we'll have answers pretty soon within the episode. Some people will be relieved and some people ... might not be," the actress stated.
Series creator Dan Fogelman also revealed in an earlier interview with the same publication that they will not drag out Toby's story. According to Fogelman, the fans will learn what happened to the character during the first five minutes of the midseason premiere.
On the other hand, Mandy Moore also told E! News that fans should prepare for a highly emotional episode when the series returns for the second half of the season.
"We've been off for five weeks and I know we left everyone with a bit of a cliffhanger, but the thing about this show is there are always crazy roller coasters of emotion and this episode is no exception," the actress who portrays the role of Rebecca Pearson in the series stated.
Aside from Toby's fate, the episode will also feature Randall's adjustments to his father Shakespeare's (Ron Cephas Jones) relationship with Jessie (Denis O'Hare). Olivia's (Janet Montgomery) return, on the other hand, will cause trouble for Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Sloane's (Milana Vayntrub) budding relationship. Back in the past, Rebecca and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) will struggle to find a new home that will accommodate their upcoming triplets.
The midseason premiere of "This Is Us" will air on NBC on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
