In the three Marvel properties that are hitting the big screen this year, only "Thor: Ragnarok" has yet to receive a trailer except for the mockumentary that was pretty hilarious. Both "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" and "Spider-Man: Homecoming," which will be rolled out this summer have released respective sneak peeks. That, however, was made up for by the film studio with the surprise drop of the film's official synopsis and a first look at the God of Thunder on set.

The press statement for the brief description for the movie does not bring out some new information but instead it confirms long-running rumors of how The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) will eventually come across Thor (Chris Hemsworth). As it turns out, the two Avengers pal go on a head to head match for survival before they both come together to save Asgard.

"In Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok — the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization — at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger — the Incredible Hulk," the synopsis reads.

As early as last year, rumblings about the two partaking in a gladiator match have made the rounds online with a couple of hints and there but without any confirmation whatsoever. As it turns out in this situation, when there is smoke there is fire as "Thor" Ragnarok" continues the ongoing comic book film trend of superhero vs. superhero. It can be remembered that last year, Marvel also pitted Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) in the summer juggernaut that is "Captain America: Civil War."

Production for the trilogy capper is still ongoing in Australia with "What We Did in the Shadows" helmer, Taika Waititi, directing the flick as seen in the behind-the-scenes promo photo. "Thor: Ragnarok" is heavily tipped to have a major impact in Marvel's upcoming culminating movie "Avengers: Infinity War" scheduled next year. That being said, the last stone from the Infinity Gauntlet in the soul gem is also tipped to make an appearance in the movie and so is the cinematic universe's latest superhero, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) who holds the time gem.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is scheduled to hit theaters Nov 3.
