'Thor: Ragnarok' release date and rumors: Rumors put Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster as film's central villain
Taika Waititi's "Thor: Ragnarok" doesn't come out till November next year but a lot of fans have been trying to guess the plot of the upcoming film. A rumor has recently come out about saying that "Ragnarok" in the title doesn't refer to the comic, but rather to a planet of this name.
The news comes for ShmoesKnow.com. The report says that majority of the movie deals with Thor (Chirs Hemsworth) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) trying to escape Ragnarok, an arena-type planet with a "Mad Max" meets "The Gladiator" aesthetic. The planet is run by none other than Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster, and he has an enforcer called Skurge (Karl Urban) to keep everybody in line.
Along the way, Thor and Hulk run into another Marvel hero, Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson). There are no details on what exactly happens in the movie but Marvel has always been serious about keeping its production secrets.
For a while, fans have believed that the main villain of the movie is Cate Blanchett who plays Hela. Hela is said to team up with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) as they attempt to take over Asgard.
Other rumors have also suggested that Thor is exiled and is imprisoned in an alien planet where he is forced to do gladiatorial combat. This is supposedly where he runs into the Hulk.
A lot of different rumors have been surrounding the movie like Thor getting his head shaved, the appearance of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), and even the destruction of Thor's signature weapon, Mjolnir. There's also news that Korg, a rock creature from the comics, makes an appearance in the arena where Thor is trapped.
Thor is one of the biggest names in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, along with Iron Man and Captain America, so a lot of fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of his third solo movie.
"Thor: Ragnarok" hits theaters Nov. 3, 2017.
