'Thor: Ragnarok' release date news, updates: Karl Urban officially wraps his scenes
Last August, Mark Ruffalo has officially wrapped his scenes as Bruce Banner/The Hulk in the production of Taika Waititi's "Thor: Ragnarok." This time around, "Star Trek" actor Karl Urban has already finished shooting his scenes, and he just thanked the director and the crew for the experience.
In a Twitter post, Urban shared a picture of Waititi with the caption, "That's a wrap for Skurge !!Big Thanks @TaikaWaititi @Marvel and the amazing cast n crew , So much Fun !"
In the movie, Urban will play the role of Skurge the Executioner, and there is a picture of him online with his head fully shaved for the role. The name of the character seems to be in the same vein as that of Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) and Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) — both villains in the 2014 hit, "Guardians of the Galaxy."
In the comics, Skurge is considered to be one of the greatest warriors in Asgard, and he worked closely with the Enchantress. Seeing as there is no Enchantress character confirmed for this movie, Skurge may be devoting his loyalty to Cate Blanchett's character Hela. Marvel may also want to avoid the confusion with "Suicide Squad," which also had a character named Enchantress.
Some fans are already guessing as to how much involvement Urban's character will have in the movie. The shoot was rumored to go on for four months, and Urban wrapped after three, making some speculate that he will be in the movie way longer than Mark Ruffalo who wrapped his work in August.
Then again, maybe Ruffalo's character will spend more time in the movie as the Hulk, who is a fully computer-generated character. It has been reported that the movie will also draw some story elements from the comic "Planet Hulk" which had the Hulk fight for his life in an intergalactic gladiator arena.
"Thor: Ragnarok" will hit theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
