'Titanfall 2' news: Details on next free patch revealed; Respawn cancels 'Titanfall' mobile game
Respawn is currently working on a new patch for "Titanfall 2," and it will be released sometime soon. The said patch will add new UI updates and a new game mode, among others.
The new pilot-only mode is called Live Fire, and it will be accompanied with two more maps that are only available in that mode. Live Fire will be a six-on-six multiplayer game without the presence of Titans. It is a best-of-five rounds mode, and teams win by eliminating their opponents or by getting a flag when the counter runs out. Each round spans one minute, and there are no respawns.
The additional maps are called Stacks and Meadow, and both of them are specifically designed for the mode. In terms of content, multiple new commander intros for every faction and a new Pilot execution animation will be included in the update. A major UI update to the playlist part will also be added, and the new interface will bring all modes on one screen for easier navigation. "Our goal is to allow players to create their own 'mixtapes' and choose which modes they want to be matched in," the developer wrote in a blog post.
Live Fire serves as the second free major update for "Titanfall 2." The first one was delivered at the end of November, and it included the fan-favorite Angel City map from the original game. Aside from new weapons, it also included a new pilot execution and a new kit designed for the game's Titans.
On another note, Respawn decided to cancel the previously-announced "Titanfall: Frontline" mobile game. In a statement, the developer noted that while they learned a lot during the mobile game's beta test, they "felt the experience wasn't ready to deliver the intense action-packed gameplay synonymous with 'Titanfall.'" Respawn also confirmed that the closed beta wraps up in the next few days, and the servers will officially go offline on Jan. 20.
