The "Tomb Raider" reboot has found its villain. Variety has reported that Walton Goggins is in final negotiations to put pen to paper and star opposite Alicia Vikander in the upcoming film. Goggins is going to play the primary antagonist in the movie.

Viewers who have seen Goggins portray seedy characters like Billy in "Django Unchained" and Sheriff Chris Mannix in "The Hateful Eight" know that the actor is perfect for the villain role. Goggins is currently starring in the dark comedy "Vice Principals." He also plays the lead character in the upcoming drama series, "Six."

Warner Bros., MGM and GK Films will be co-producing the movie. Graham King is going to serve as producer and Roar Uthaug will be directing the latest film adaptation of "Tomb Raider." Vikander will be portraying Lara Croft.

The film will be different from the previous "Tomb Raider" films starring Angelina Jolie because the Lara in this film isn't going to be the experienced adventurer with almost superhuman dexterity and endurance. In an interview with Hey U Guys last month, producer Graham King shed some light on what to expect from the film.

"Well this is kind of what we call a 'back to the roots story'. This is a young Lara Croft in search to see if her father is dead or alive, so it has a very emotional part to it and I think that's what Alicia found so interesting about it. I think the storytelling is really good and I think we've got the right crew and a great director and I think it's going to be really fun making a film like this," he said.

So, instead of going on a quest to search for lost treasures and running into bad guys, Lara is going to be looking for his father.

"Tomb Raider" is scheduled to premiere on March 16, 2018.
