After losing one of their important pieces this summer, the Toronto Raptors are now looking to land a new power forward before the start of the new season.

A report from the Parent Herald revealed that the Eastern Conference team is looking to get Kenneth Faried from the Denver Nuggets.

Faried has been part of trade talks for a while now, with his future with the Nuggets apparently up in the air. It seems that there are a number of teams interested to sign the power forward.

HNGN also reported on the matter and believes that the Raptors may trade their star DeMar DeRozan in order to land Faried on a trade. This may not be beneficial on paper as DeRozan is the more marketable player, but the lack of height the Raptors have may be enough for them to let go of one of their star guards.

Other rumors link Faried to a move elsewhere like the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Raptors have to try to lure the power forward to their team to maintain their elite status in the East.

At the moment, the Raptors are being buoyed by the guard combo of DeRozan and Kyle Lowry and if the they can work out a deal that brings Faried to the team without sacrificing the backcourt duo, it should help make the Raptors a very dangerous team. If this happens, they could possibly battle with teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Now at 27 years old, Faried is about to enter the prime of his career. He averaged 12.3 points per game in his first five years in the league, while he also got 8.7 rebounds per night. He is also a very reliable scorer from underneath as he converts 54 per cent of his shots. Playing for a good team like the Raptors will only help him develop into an elite power forward.
