'Transformers: The Last Knight' release date, spoilers, latest news: First trailer to launch with theatrical release of 'Rogue One'
The much-anticipated release of the upcoming epic space opera film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will be released on Dec. 16. However, aside from getting to watch "Rogue One" this Christmas, moviegoers can also look forward to the unveiling of the first trailer for "Transformers: The Last Knight" with the debut of the standalone Star Wars film.
Director Michael Bay confirmed the news himself. In response to fans' questions about the launch date of the movie's trailer, the director posted a video on the film's official Facebook page that announced the trailer's release date, scheduled on Dec. 16.
According to Cinema Blend, the attachment of the first trailer for "Transformers: The Last Knight" to the viewing of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" guarantees that at least 5 million people will get to see a glimpse of the sci-fi action film.
As reported by Game N Guide, sources reveal that the plot of the new "Transformers" film will use elements from the Arthurian legends. In the movie, the Excalibur will be revealed as an artifact originally owned by the Autobots that was deliberately left on Earth for safekeeping. The Autobots will go on a quest to search for the Excalibur in order to keep it safe from the Decepticons and to unleash its power as well.
The movie will reportedly include clips from the past, which will explain how the Excalibur had been guarded by famous personalities in history and how the artifact had brought war and chaos to the world.
Even with the blockbuster success of the entire "Transformers" film franchise, the production of the fifth 'Transformers" movie had not been as smooth-sailing as expected. It can be recalled that latest film had sparked outrage for using the former home of Winston Churchill as a Nazi headquarter, plastering the property with swastikas.
"Transformers: The Last Knight", starring Mark Wahlberg, Laura Haddock, Anthony Hopkins, Isabela Moner, Stanley Tucci, John Goodman, John Turturro, and Josh Duhamel, is set to hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
