'Vikings' season 4 episode 12 spoilers: Ragnar pushes for Wessex journey amidst Aslaug's warning; Bjorn goes off to the Mediterranean
Despite unfavorable conditions and a warning from his queen consort, Ragnar's (Travis Fimmel) trip back to Wessex pushes through in the next episode of "Vikings."
After failing to gain the assistance of the people he had hoped to support and stand by him as he goes to raid England once again, Ragnar will be forced to take care of the preparations on his own. The episode synopsis also reveals how the people of Kattegat believe that the Viking warrior and king has already lost favor with the gods and will thus chide him for still going about his reckless plan.
Ragnar will not be deterred as he gathers a crew that he will have to bribe in order to have people manning the weathered boats he will be fortunate enough to acquire. The good favors are all with his son, Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig), as the younger Lothbrok prepares to embark on an exploration of the Mediterranean. Contrary to his father's struggles, Bjorn will find it easy to gather a crew for his sleek new boat courtesy of the renowned boat builder, Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård), who once provided Ragnar's fleet.
Moreover, Ragnar's queen consort and second wife, Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) comes to him with a warning after foreseeing the destruction of the fleet by a vicious storm. However, Ragnar adamantly moves forward with his plans and even takes along Aslaug's most precious son, Ivar (Alex Høgh).
The episode preview also teases a brewing confrontation between Aslaug and Ragnar's former wife, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick).
Will Aslaug's vision come to pass? If and when it does, how will Ragnar's fleet survive a destructive storm? Will Aslaug be able to persuade his son Ivar to reconsider his plans of going with his father? How will the two strong and powerful women in Ragnar's life settle their differences?
"Vikings" season 4 episode 12 titled "The Vision" will air on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 9 p.m. EST on History.
