Ubisoft admitted that there is a lower trend of sales for "Watch Dogs 2" compared with its predecessor. However, the developer-publisher of the game remains positive that the coming weeks will see better days in the gaming market.

Even before the official release of the game, developers admitted that the preorders they got were lower than what they have predicted. But the company remains positive that the game will do well in the following weeks.

Before the release, Ubisoft claims that preorders do not necessarily indicate how a game will perform in the market. In an earnings call earlier this month, Ubisoft chief financial officer Alain Martinez said, "Pre-orders are indeed very important, quality is very important, but also the attention that you put on the game over the long term is also very very key."

More recently, Ubisoft said that the trend of lower sales continues to fall short from what they have expected but they remain positive of "Watch Dogs 2" in a long-term perspective.

As Ubisoft told several news outlets, "We're incredibly happy with critics' and players' very positive reception of Watch Dogs 2, which should bolster support for the long-term success of the game. We expect both week-two and week-three sales to be above traditional sales patterns. There is a trend toward games, especially high-quality games, having stronger and longer 'tails' as favorable reviews and word of mouth spread."

Ubisoft also said that the lower trend of sales is experienced by other big game titles as well. This might be statistically true because, considering "Watch Dogs 2's" lower sales, it still managed to climb to the top 2 spot of the U.K. sales chart according to U.K.'s games and interactive entertainment bodies, UK Interactive Entertainment (UKIE) and GfK, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz.

"Watch Dogs 2" sits next to Activision's "Call of Duty-Infinite Warfare" that also experienced a 46 percent drop in sales, according to the same report.

On other "Watch Dogs 2" news, gamers who already bought the game still wait for Ubisoft to fix the online multiplayer mode that has been inaccessible since the game's console release.

"Watch Dogs 2" will be available to PC gamers on Nov. 29.
