Paramount Pictures has put a bounty on Will Smith's head.

The decision to let Smith star in the action-thriller "Bounty" came after Paramount acquired Sascha Penn's script. The movie is set in Boston, focusing on a man who is wrongly convicted of murder.

The film follows the suspect's attempt to prove his innocence following his escape from prison with a $10 million reward for his capture – dead or alive.

Smith's Overbrook Entertainment will produce the film, without any word on the actual production, with Adam Kolbrenner and Madhouse's Robyn Meisinger as executive producer.

The two-time Academy Award nominee's presence as a big-screen leading man has been relatively quiet since he headlined "Men in Black 3" back in 2012 before making a support lead in "After Earth," which starred his son Jaden Smith.

He also appeared briefly in both "A Winter's Tale" and "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues." Smith will be back in the spotlight with Warner Bros.' "Focus" that will hit theaters on Feb. 20.

After that, Smith can also be seen leading the cast of real football drama "Concussion" before reteaming with Robbie for the David Ayer-helmed comic book adaptation "Suicide Squad."

"Concussion" is scheduled for release on Dec. 25 this year while "Suicide Squad" is set for an Aug. 5 release next year.

Smith first achieved modest fame as a rapper under the name "The Fresh Prince" in the late 1980s before his popularity increased dramatically when he starred in the popular television series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" in 1990.

The show ran on NBC until 1996. Smith's first major roles were in the drama "Six Degrees of Separation" in 1993 and the action film "Bad Boys" opposite comedian Martin Lawrence in 1995.

A year after, Smith starred as part of an ensemble cast in Roland Emmerich's "Independence Day," which became a massive blockbuster, becoming the second highest grossing film in history at the time and establishing Smith as a prime box office draw.

Smith later struck gold again in the summer of 1997 alongside Tommy Lee Jones in the summer hit "Men in Black" before co-starring with Gene Hackman in "Enemy of the State."
