'Winds of Winter' release date news update: 2 books coming out in March 2017?

Did Amazon France just confirm the release date for book six in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series? That's what fans are assuming after the website posted a placeholder page for the next book in George RR Martin's brainchild.

HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones" is based on Martin's bestselling books under the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. The sixth book, "The Winds of Winter," is apparently where much of season 7 of the series will be adapted from.

To this day, Martin hasn't confirmed when he will release the book, but according to Winter Is Coming, Amazon France added a placeholder for "The Winds of Winter." The page lists the book price, as well as March 9, 2017 as date of release. Is it a dead giveaway that the book really is coming out early next year?

Well, any purported release date has to be considered false unless Martin himself confirms it. As it is, Martin is still finishing the book. There are rumors that this installment will be the longest in the series, so Martin needs all the time he can put in to the book to conclude it properly.

Nevertheless, there are speculations that the delay may be due to another book, the seventh in the series titled "A Dream of Spring," which Martin is apparently trying to complete concurrently with "Winds of Winter."

Should there be any truth to the rumors, then fans will be in for a double treat when the books are finally released. Some fans are speculating that the truth about Jon Snow's (Kit Harington) parentage will be revealed in "Winds of Winter," but Martin has been keeping mum about major details of the book.

Still, a Reddit user claims that Penguin publishing has added a new ISBN number for "Winds of Winter," which means the book may be closer to release than what Martin is leading fans to believe. However, with the author himself acknowledging his weakness of meeting deadlines, fans should take the news with a grain of salt.
