'Winds of Winter' release date, plot spoilers: Preview of book contained in new 'Game of Thrones' enhanced digital iBook
"Winds of Winter" may still be a long ways off, but fans can get a good look at the sixth volume of "A Song of Ice and Fire" series in a new digital edition of "A Game of Thrones."
Bestselling author George R.R. Martin has teamed up with Apple to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first book that started it all by releasing the "Game of Thrones: Enhanced Editions."
The interactive edition includes a preview of "Winds of Winter," which has no release date up to now. This should quench the thirst of fans for the sixth novel.
The "Game of Thrones: Enhanced Editions" were designed in a way the stories will be much easier to keep track of as readers can click on the name of the character, which will provide them details about them.
According to the official description for the digital book, it will contain character maps, annotations and glossary terms that will provide details on the characters and houses. This makes it a great way to catch up on the series before "Winds of Winter" hits the shelves.
The appendix section was expanded to accommodate all the 92 house sigils, which come with fine points on the "symbolism, house seat, region and allegiances."
"We're now entering a new period in the history of publishing," Martin said in the press release with regards to the digital "Game of Thrones" 20th-anniversary edition.
"The digital book gives readers the ability to experience all this rich secondary material that had not been possible before... Anything that confuses you, anything you want to know more about, it's right there at your fingertips. It's an amazing next step in the world of books," he continued.
"Game of Thrones: Enhanced Editions" will be priced at 8.99 and is exclusively available on iBooks. The digital versions of the four other books are up for pre-order.
As for "Winds of Winter," there is no release date yet but reports suggest it will see the light of day sometime next year although Martin is mum about it.
There is also no concrete information on the preview for "Winds of "Winter" contained in the "Game of Thrones: Enhanced Editions."
