It's no secret that "Wonder Woman" is going to be set in World War I. The film's official trailer has also revealed that Elena Anaya will play a mysterious villain who wears a mask over half of her face. While the film has an intriguing concept, it's missing one thing; it doesn't have an antagonist who can challenge the might of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot). Anaya's character may seem menacing, but it does not look like she has the raw power to fight Diana.

The Amazonian is practically invulnerable and no mere human can threaten her. But a recent report has revealed that the filmmakers were holding something back. Apparently, there's a behind-the-scene player who hasn't been introduced yet. And his name is Ares.

French magazine Studio Ciné Live recently published an article about "Wonder Woman," and Les Toiles Héroïques translated the plot summary from French to English. The summary reads:

"Behind these scientific formulas, there is a deadly gas that could well annihilate humanity. Now, it turns out that this is precisely the goal of Ares, the god of war. He is jealous of humanity, which is a creation of his father, the deceased Zeus (he was killed by Ares when he rebelled against his son, despite the help of the Amazons)..."

It seems fitting for Ares to appear in "Wonder Woman." World War I is one of the bloodiest wars in human history, and the more violent the conflict, the more powerful Ares becomes. After all, he is the god of war.

Studio Ciné Live also spoke with Chris Pine, and the actor shared some details about his character, Steve Trevor. "My character steals a notebook filled with scientific formulas in an Ottoman base, he steals a plane but is shot down in the open sea," he said. As shown in the trailer, he would meet Diana after he was washed ashore on the island of Themyscira.

"Wonder Woman" is scheduled to premiere on June 2.
