In the world of professional wrestling, stars retire but remain relevant in the industry.

This holds true and in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), it can easily be seen in both the SmackDown Live and Monday Night Raw brands as retired wrestlers are still in front of the camera.

Normally, retirement does not necessarily mean the end, as some stars even find their way back to the squared-circle to compete at least one more time.

Recently, one of the biggest names in the industry is being rumored for a comeback, as Shawn Michaels may be making his way back to the ring sooner rather than later.

Michaels has been out of action for six years, last seen in Wrestlemania 26 where he battled The Undertaker with his career on the line. He lost that match and stuck to his word as he is out of action.

Howevver, recent developments in the WWE have sparked talks that he may be needed to make the anticipated return. One of those big announcements was that the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble event will take place in San Antonio at the Alamodome.

This is the first time in 20 years that it will happen and it also conveniently is the hometown of Michaels.

Many are hyping the 2017 Royal Rumble as probably the biggest in history. With that, they are immediately linking Michaels to make an appearance and something more than just a cameo.

If he is going to be in a match, many rumors say that it could be against "The Phenomenal One" A.J. Styles. This should be a very interesting battle.

At the moment, Styles is the World Champion and represents the SmackDown Live brand. He is also coming in with a full head of steam as his rivalry with John Cena and Dean Ambrose makes him a fan-favorite.

The only thing needed now is convincing Michaels to come back and battle against one of the best.

It remains to be seen if this becomes a reality. Fans should stay tuned for more updates on the 2017 Royal Rumble.
