'X-Men: Apocalypse' Release Date, Cast Rumors: Evan Peters to Return as Quicksilver
Fans are set to see Evan Peters play the role of Quicksilver once again in "X-Men: Apocalypse" as announced by the movie's producer. But the actor himself has yet to reveal if he is officially on board the project, according to the entertainment website I Am Rogue.
Peters, who played the speedy mutant in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," said he has yet to see the script.
The young actor made such an impression despite the brevity of his appearance in that movie that even before "Days of Future Past" was released in the big screen, returning Apocalypse producer and co-writer Simon Kinberg said Quicksilver "would absolutely be back for the next X-Men movie."
Brian Smrz, the second unit director on the previous film and the next one, told Newsarama that he is looking forward to working with the cast and crew again. He also said "there will be another Quicksilver scene, which I'm looking forward to; that'll be fun."
"We talked about Quicksilver before, I'd love to do a Quicksilver as a solo film because there's a lot to enjoy with that character. But I'm not geared just towards superhero movies; for me it's about great main characters, and finding movies that have that," he added.
However, Peters told I Am Rogue that the film is still a mystery to him when asked if he is already officially part of the cast. "I think so, yes. I assume it as well, but I don't know what I'm supposed to say and not supposed to say," the actor answered. "I haven't seen a script," he said.
Asked about the starting date of production and if his schedule has already been worked out, Peters said, "No. We'll see."
If he is indeed part of the cast, Peters will join Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smit-McPhee – all new additions to the cast – who will be playing younger versions of Jean Grey, Storm, Cyclops, and Nightcrawler, respectively.
Returning to play their roles are Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Hank McCoy), and Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert). The film's lead antagonist role of Apocalypse will be played by Oscar Isaac.
Principal photography for the movie starts this April in Montreal.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to hit the big screen on May 27 next year.
