Xbox Games with Gold March 2017 free games guide: How to get the free games

Xbox Games with Gold players are given the opportunity to download games for free, with the freebies continually updated, as a perk for their membership. However, how exactly can they avail of these?

It is not sufficient for players to sign up for Xbox Games with Gold. They will also need to have active Xbox Live Gold active accounts in order to take advantage of this monthly offer. Those who are currently subscribed to trials requiring a credit card may also avail of this.

All of the free games can be played using Xbox One, owing to its backward compatibility feature. On the other hand, some titles may not be available for Xbox 360.

There are three ways in which the free games can be downloaded. Players who are using a console can go to the Xbox Live Gold tile, which can be found on Xbox Home. The screen will then show which are available for download for free. Those who want to get these games on their computers, meanwhile, can visit the Games with Gold website and select which ones they want. These will then be automatically stored in their account and can be downloaded once they use their gaming consoles. However, it should be noted that a credit card account will need to be registered to grab these, even though no actual charges will be made. Finally, mobile users can download the free games by going to the Store of the Xbox One SmartGlass app.

Not all areas support the Games with Gold arrangement. According to Xbox Support, this is only available in the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong SAR, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and United States.

Xbox One users will no longer be able to access the games they got should they cancel their Xbox Live Gold membership, while those using Xbox 360 can still continue to do so.

The free games for March for Xbox Games with Gold members are Layers of Fear, Evolve Ultimate Edition, Borderlands 2, and Heavy Weapon.
