Xbox One Backward Compatibility games: two 'Battlefield' titles and more join list
"Battlefield" installments are the latest to join the ever-growing Xbox One Backward Compatibility catalog of Microsoft.
The Xbox 360 originals, "Battlefield 3" and "Battlefield: Bad Company 2" can now be played on the current-generation console, thanks to the continuously expanding program of the tech giant.
Originally released in 2010 for the PC and last-generation consoles, "Battlefield: Bad Company 2" is all about "best-in-class vehicular combat and unexpected Battlefield moments." The heart-pumping action can finally be experienced on the Xbox One.
This Xbox One Backward Compatibility title allows players to take on both solo and squad battles that will take place on land, sea and air including snowy terrains, deadly jungles and desert cities.
The second "Battlefield" title to hit the Xbox One Backward Compatibility catalog this week is "Battlefield 3," the 2011 installment that directly follows up "Battlefield 2."
In this Xbox One Backward Compatibility addition, players will get to be members of the elite U.S. Marines as "you fight your way through the war of tomorrow" in iconic and unexpected locations around the world.
Some of the battlefields to expect in "Battlefield 3" include "claustrophobic streets, metropolitan downtowns, and open, vehicle-friendly landscapes."
It is to be noted that "Battlefield 3" will only be Xbox One backward-compatible through disc. Those who have their Xbox 360 copy could simply access it and then download the Xbox One version.
Other Xbox One Backward Compatibility titles added along with "Battlefield: Bad Company 2" and "Battlefield 3" include BioWare's 2009 role-playing game, "Dragon Age: Origins," "Ghostbusters," the video game adaptation of the franchise of the same name released in 2009, and the racing game, "Scrap Metal" all priced at $15.
Also joining the Xbox One Backward Compatibility catalog are the physics-based puzzle game "The Splatters" and the throwback robot shoot'em up game, "Strania," which is inspired from 1980s arcade games. Both are priced $10 each.
