New game titles will have been added to the backward compatibility list for Xbox One before the end of 2016.

Last week, Xbox's Major Nelson revealed that the classic sci-fi game "Shadowrun" can be finally played on Xbox One through the platform's backward compatibility feature. It is included in the ever-growing list of titles that are released in Microsoft's latest gaming console together with the 2008 AI Factory video board game "Shotest Shogi" and Strawdog Studios' multiplayer video game "Space Ark" that came out in 2010.

For this week, nine new titles had been added to the Xbox One backward compatibility list. It includes the "BioShock" video game franchise, among others.

2K Games released the first "BioShock" first-person shooter game in 2007. Then they followed it up with the sequel "BioShock 2" in 2010. Its final release came out on Xbox 360 in 2013.

The "BioShock" games are joined by other last-generation Xbox game titles, including Targem Games' "Planets Under Attack," Rockstar Games' "Bully: Scholarship Edition" that came out in 2008, Halfbrick Studios' action platform game "Raskulls," the puzzle platformer adventure game "Catherine" from Atlus, the "Skydive: Proximity Flight" from Gaijin Entertainment, as well as the "CLANNAD" video game for the Japanese market.

Other popular backward-compatible game for Xbox One include the "Assassin's Creed" and "Assassin's Creed 2" from Ubisoft, Sega's "Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse," the "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" and the "Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut" from Square Enix, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's "Injustice: Gods Among Us," as well as Disney Interactive Studio's "LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game" and "LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga."

The Xbox One backward compatibility feature was first introduced by Microsoft on June 15, 2015 to allow Xbox One users enjoy selected titles that were released for the Xbox 360.

More titles are expected to be added to the list soon.
