Xbox One Backward Compatibility officially closes for the year, but with a promise of great games coming this January
No new games will be joining the Xbox One Backward Compatibility library until the end of the year, which is really just a few more days. However, the service is gearing to come back with a bang to welcome the new year as Xbox chief Phil Spencer hints of only good things to come in January.
Taking it to his official Twitter page, the company exec engaged in some fan talk in which one follower asked him if he could at least pre-announce some Backward Compatibility games to come. Unfortunately, as expected, Spencer could not; however, he did not leave fans hanging but instead teased that while he cannot comment on specific games, the loot coming next month is definitely nothing too shabby.
Obviously, fans were happy with the hint despite not really knowing what they are getting. Some of them, however, continue to campaign for their respective wish lists, with "Call of Duty 2" being one of the most requested from the Twitter thread.
Meanwhile, before the Xbox One Backward Compatibility library officially closes out for the year, Microsoft drops six last-minute titles for fans to play during the Holidays. As usual, Larry Hryb, also known as Major Nelson, took the initiative to announce the games on his social media sites. "Bully Scholarship Ed," which was a remaster of "Bully" released in 2008 includes exclusive features not present in the original iteration of the open-world, action-adventure title. "Catherine," meanwhile, is a puzzle platformer, adventure video game from Atlus that came out in 2011 and "Raskulls" is an action platform from Halfbrick Studios in 2010. Additionally, "Skydive" and "Under Attack" have also been announced earlier plus "CLANNAD," which is exclusive for the Japanese Xbox One gaming market only.
It has been a busy year for the Xbox One Backward Compatibility team reaching their 300th game milestone and the announcement that nearly half of Xbox One owners have already jumped on the service bandwagon. The program aims to continue adding more games to its growing list presumably with a great batch opening 2017.
