Its purported predecessor may have just been released early this year, but Xiaomi appears to be moving fast with the Xiaomi Mi 6 appearing to be in active development already.

A couple of live images has popped up online from Weibo showing the design of the front and back of the Xiaomi Mi 5 successor, which the China-based tech firm is yet to announce.

The purported Xiaomi Mi 6 on the unit is colored black and appears to have a glass metal body. The design appears to be almost unchanged from the Xiaomi Mi 5.

The photos show a home button believed to be embedded with a fingerprint scanner. The device barely has bezels on either side of the screen, making it look wide and much bigger.

Apart from that, not much can be taken away from the leaks although they give a good look at the appearance of the Xiaomi Mi 6 prior to its unveiling.

With regards to the specifications and features of the Xiaomi flagship, PriceRaja says that the display will likely be 5.5 inches in size with a Quad high-definition (HD) screen resolution for excellent visuals.

It is predicted that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, an improvement from the Snapdragon 820 in the last-generation iteration. A 4GB of RAM should make the cut as well.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to keep its 16-megapixel snapper, which means that not much improvement in the camera department can be anticipated.

GSM Arena believes that the device is still early in development so users can expect to hear more about the flagship in the coming months.

Just recently, Xiaomi unveiled the Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus, which are new variants of the Xiaomi Mi 5. With these units still fresh, the Xiaomi Mi 6 could still be far off.
