Xiaomi Mi S release date, specs rumors: 4.6-inch device with Snapdragon 821 arriving soon?
Nowadays, it seems that most smartphones that feature premium specs also come with large displays. However, there are still a lot of people who prefer smaller-sized devices but don't want to settle for mediocre features. In order to fill a dearth in the market, Xiaomi is said to be introducing a mini flagship device currently codenamed as the Mi S. It reportedly comes with top-tier specs and will be arriving very soon.
According to leaked promotional materials from Chinese microblogging website Weibo, the Xiaomi Mi S will sport a 4.6-inch display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1080 pixels. There is 2.5D curved glass on top of the screen for added protection. In terms of dimensions, it is 128.3 x 64.2 x 8.2 mm and weighs 138 grams.
The rumored device will supposedly be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. There will be 4 GB of random access memory (RAM) and 128 GB of internal storage.
It's possible that the Xiaomi Mi S will be a popular device among photography enthusiasts. It is said to have a 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony's IMX378 sensor, a f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus, 4K video capture and dual-LED flash. Then, there is a 4-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1080p video recording.
Xiaomi's newest device is backed by a 2,600 mAh battery. It also has a USB Type-C port with Quick Charge 3.0 capability. Based on the leaked photos, there appears to be a fingerprint sensor on the home button.
There was no indication of how much the device will cost as well as a more specific release window.
