'Shadowhunters' season 2A news, release date: cast wrapped up filming, Katherine McNamara says

Freeform's TV adaptation of Cassandra Clare's fantasy young adult novel series called "Mortal Instruments" wrapped up the first half of season 2. "Shadowhunters" star Katherine McNamara, who portrays Clary Fray, recently teased on Instagram that they just finished filming.

McNamara shared an image file of a quote on Instagram that most likely had to do with her experience in working with the rest of the cast and crew for "Shadowhunters" season 2. Along with the quote, she made a lengthy caption about the development process for the forthcoming season. She wrote, "Season 2A was a whirlwind... it's only appropriate that I'm saying this on #Thanksgiving... I am so grateful to work with a group of insanely talented individuals who are passionate about their work and all things in life."

She also gave a shout-out to her "Shadowhunters" family, and thanked them for her incredible experience before adding, "Here's to what I hope is only the beginning of an incredible journey. All my love."

Previously, the actress teased that fans should pay attention to her character, as she is slated to undergo significant character growth next season. Though at first her mundane upbringing made her confused and scared about discovering this new world, she will slowly begin to accept who she is as a Shadowhunter.

As previously reported, Jace (Dominic Sherwood) will be dragged into the evil schemes that Valentine (Alan van Sprang) has elaborately plotted. The former is expected to hurt someone Clary holds dear. The younger Shadowhunters in the New York Institute will attempt to bring back Jace but Clary will be blamed for Jace's current predicament.

The Clave, which immediately responded to the scene, will be one of the reasons why the younger Shadowhunters will have a difficult time in accomplishing their mission. Since Valentine is continuing to grow his army, the Shadowhunters might need to make alliances with the creatures they have long branded as enemies.

Viewers can catch the second season of "Shadowhunters" when it premieres on Freeform on Jan. 2, 2017, at 8 p.m. EST.
