'Longmire' season 5 release date, spoilers news: Betrayals galore for Walt? Trailer teases gunning of major character?

There will be tough times ahead for Walt Longmire when "Longmire" season 5 premieres this Sept. 23 on Netflix.

The trailer for the upcoming season of "Longmire" has just been released, and if it's any indication, it looks like the series lead will be in for some tough times in the fifth installment. Lots of shootouts, spiteful confrontations, and a road rage that may or may not take the life of one of the story's major players are to be expected in season 5 based on the trailer.

Walt (Robert Taylor) might also face heartbreaking betrayals in the hands of his daughter, Cady (Cassidy Freeman) and best friend, Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips).

Apparently, his daughter will start working for Jacob Nighthorse (A Martinez), a local businessman whom Walt suspected before as having a hand in the murder of his wife. In the season 4 finale, Jacob offered Cady the job of being the legal representative of Cheyenne natives, and it looks like she acquiesced.

Walt's closest friend, whom fans know hasn't been completely honest with Walt in many things, is also expected to betray Walt. As the trailer suggests, Walt will call Henry out on all his lies, leading to a heated confrontation between the two. Some spoilers even suggest that Henry might be the one behind an accident that Walt will get into as season 5 progresses.

However, the upcoming season is also expected to give more focus on the blossoming romance between Country Sheriff Walt and his deputy, Vic Moretti (Katee Sackhoff). Viewers of the series are aware that the sexual tension between the two, as palpable as it is, seems to be entirely on Vic's side only. Walt has been trying his best to keep things professional between them. Still, as spoilers indicate, things could go to the next level for the two in "Longmire" season 5.
