'Gotham' season 3 release date, cast news 2016: New Poison Ivy; Jamie Chung boards series as Valerie Vale
The much-anticipated "Gotham" season 3 will feature a couple of new faces.
According to reports, the Fox crime series has cast its new Poison Ivy and Valerie Vale. These two are among the most eagerly awaited characters set to make their debut in the show's upcoming season 3.
As previously reported, a new actress is taking over the role of Ivy Pepper/Poison Ivy, a character that was portrayed in the first two seasons of "Gotham" by Clare Foley.
But because the role is being aged up for the show's third season, the young Foley has been replaced by "Ted 2" actress Maggie Geha. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Geha, who will be playing the iconic DC Comics character in the upcoming season, is boarding "Gotham" as a series regular.
Geha has appeared in the films "Winter's Tale" (2014) and "The Rewrite" (2014), and in television shows "30 Rock" and "Gossip Girl."
The new season is said to find Ivy being reborn after an encounter with one of the creatures that escaped from Indian Hill in the season 2 finale. The meeting will pave the way for the young woman to become who she was destined to be: the villainess Poison Ivy. In season 3, Ivy will be 19 years old, a charming lady with her sights set on Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).
Apart from Geha, "Gotham" season 3 will also find actress Jamie Chung joining the cast. Chung, a "Once Upon A Time" cast member and former reality television personality, is taking on the recurring role of Valerie Vale.
According to TVLine, Valerie is a Gotham Gazette reporter who is dead set on unraveling the truth behind the horrors that occurred in Indian Hill. She will have her eye on Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), whom she believes is the key to her story.
As the outlet recently confirmed, Valerie is the aunt of DC Comics character Vicki Vale.
"Gotham" returns Monday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
