'Longmire' season 5 release date, plot spoilers: Sept. 23 premiere confirmed; Vic and Walt's wedding to end season 5?
Fans of "Longmire" have waited long enough for the fifth installment, and now that a premiere date has been confirmed, they are worried that they might be looking at the last season for the franchise.
There have been numerous reports up until recently that the popular TV series, which has previously experienced a cancellation from A&E before it was picked up by Netflix, is gearing up for its last season. However, Lou Diamond Phillips, who plays Henry Standing Bear on the show, took to Twitter to debunk the rumors.
Aside from earlier addressing the concern of a fan by saying season 5 is definitely not "Longmire's" last, he also snapped a picture of the cast and crew during their last filming day and said "until next season" in the caption.
Nevertheless, Netflix has yet to officially announce a sixth season for "Longmire," so until then, fans should take everything they see on the stars' social media accounts with a grain of salt.
Meanwhile, reports have noted that another reason why season 5 would be exciting (as Phillips said) is that Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) might be tying the knot with Vic Moretti (Katee Sackhoff). It appears that most of season 5 would revolve around their love story. Apparently, Walt would realize he is actually falling for Vic despite his efforts to build ties with Donna Monaghan (Ally Walker).
T.J. Scott, the series' director, previously shared a snap of the script for episode 7 of the fifth season, and it was aptly titled "From This Day Forward," and fans readily assumed that season 5 finale would see Walt and Vic getting married.
In related news, Carter Matt said fans could expect the first trailers for the series to come out towards the end of August or early September, although a teaser clip could be released before then.
"Longmire" season 5 will air on Sept. 23 on Netflix.
