'NCIS: Los Angeles' season 8 episode 3 spoilers: Will [SPOILER] be proven the mole inside OSP? What will happen to Kensi?
The two-episode "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 premiere was right on the money, living up to the episode's titles, "High-Value Target" and "Belly of the Beast," respectively.
It will be recalled that at the end of season 7, things were shaping up badly for the NCIS team. Someone from among the team was accused of being a mole, prompting Under Secretary of Defense Corbin Duggan (Jackson Hurst) to insist on a change of leadership in the team. However, while the Office of Special Projects (OSP) appears to be in limbo, Duggan and his task force decide to take over, making Granger (Miguel Ferrer) step up in a way no one could have expected.
It was through the second half of the two-hour premiere when action picked up for the series, with the team butting heads with the sourly Duggan and his right-hand woman, as well as insurgents. Through it all, it seemed like the premise of the premiere episode was to get Sam (LL Cool J), Callen (Chris O'Donnell), Kensi (Daniela Ruuah), and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) to Syria.
While the team is in Syria, trouble loomed at the OSP with Granger deciding to take time to see what's really going on. The mole still hasn't been identified, and with Duggan's one-track mind to replace the leadership in the OSP, Hetty (Linda Hunt) is forced to mull retirement.
Meanwhile, Kensi is seriously injured as battle ensues in Syria between the team and the insurgents. This is expected, as this is Ruah's out while she's on maternity leave. What was surprising was Hetty's "confession" that she was the mole, something that Duggan didn't really believe. To him, it was a part of Hetty's mind games.
On Sunday's episode titled "The Queen's Gambit," will find the team short-handed with Hetty held for questioning and Kensi in the ICU. Carter Matt shared this synopsis:
"The NCIS LA team investigates an abduction case while down two members, with Hetty being held in D.C. for questioning, and another still in the ICU following the mission in Syria."
Why did Hetty confess to something she might not have done? Is she really the mole? What will happen to Kensi? Answers to these questions come next Sunday.
"NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 episode 2, "The Queen's Gambit," airs Oct. 2 at 8/7c on CBS.
